Salvia aurea L.

Shrub to over 2 m tall. Leaves elliptic to narrowly obovate, to about 3.5 cm long, grey-green, margins entire or with small rounded teeth, stalks if present then very short. Flowers in pairs in terminal clusters. Calyx enlarging in fruit, purplish. Corolla mostly 2.5 to 5 cm long, yellow at first, becoming rusty orange and sometimes purplish at the base, glandular-hairy; late summer to autumn. Stamens protruding slightly.
