Dryopteris dilatata (Hoffm.) Gray

Rhizome extremely thick, erect or rising at the tip. Fronds to over 1 m long. Blade divided 3 times, triangular to ovate in outline, the lowermost segment of each branch large. Segments with the edges turned downwards. Can grow in cool areas.

Recognition: Blades divided 3 times; edges of segments turned downwards.
