Pseudosasa Nakai

Greek pseudo – false, Sasa – another bamboo genus.

Clump-forming bamboo with thin rhizomes that sometimes become invasive. Leaves 4-7 per branch. Sheaths persistent. Branches 1 per node. Inflorescence an open panicle. Spikelets with 2 glumes and 3-8 florets. Stamens 3 or 4 (cf. Sasa).

Grown for its moderate size and ornamental form.

Stamens 3(4) not 6 as in Sasa.
