Moor Grass

Compact, tufted, tough rooted cool season perennial grass, with stems growing to over 1 m tall. Ligule a dense fringe of hairs. Leaf rolled in bud. Leaf blade to 40 cm long, 1 cm wide, slightly hairy above, minutely rough on the margins, tapering to a fine point. Sheath not flattened, smooth, hairy at the top. Inflorescence an open or condensed panicle, often purplish; summer to autumn. Spikelets 4-9 mm long.
