Leaves 6-10 forming a tubular rosette, ligulate, rigid, recurved in the upper half, green, white cross-banded beneath; margins coarsely serrate with brown spines. Scape much longer than the leaves. Inflorescence pendulous, simple; bracts entire, rose-red. Flowers stalked; sepals violet, yellow-green towards the base; petals yellow-green with a violet tip; spirally rolled back.
