Xanthosoma violaceum Schott

Violet-stemmed Taro

Leaf blades oblong-ovate, the margins and primary lateral veins violet (more pronounced on lower surface); stalks to 2 m long, violet with a waxy bloom. Spathe to 30 cm long, the tube violet and waxy, the blade yellow.

Widely cultivated and naturalised in the tropics.

West Indies.
