Rhizome orientated vertically. Leaves oblanceolate to elliptic, to over 1.5 m long and 25 cm wide; stalk short, thick, winged. Spathe yellow, upper inflated part to over 15 cm long, lower part whitish, wrinkled; late spring. Spadix greenish, to 15 cm long and longer than the spathe. Fruit a green berry.
