Stem 60-100 cm tall. Leaves to 50 cm long, 6 cm wide. Flowers 9-15 cm wide, red, yellow, pink, orange or white, variously blotched or spotted and with a satinlike sheen; summer. Outer segments ovate, acute but curved back at tip, 6-10 cm long; inner segments shorter, blunt. Stamens forming a tube 4-7 cm long, anthers erect. Syn. T. conchiflora Sweet.
