Trichopilia tortilis Lindl.

Medium sized epiphyte. Pseudobulbs narrow-ovoid to cylindrical, to 12 cm long, compressed. Leaves narrow-elliptic, to 22 cm long, to 5 cm wide. Flowers 1 or 2, to 15 cm wide, usually cream with pink to purplish or yellowish blotches, labellum white or pale yellow with brown or reddish spots in throat; winter. Sepals and petals linear, pointed, strongly twisted. Labellum 3-lobed, side lobes curved around column, midlobe notched at tip.

Mexico and C America.
