Trichopilia suavis Lindl. & Paxton

Medium sized epiphyte. Pseudobulbs ovoid to spherical, to 8 cm long, slightly compressed. Leaves narrow-elliptic, to 40 cm long, to 8 cm wide. Flowers 2?5, to 10 cm wide, usually white or cream, labellum with red or purplish blotches; spring. Sepals and petals lanceolate, pointed, spreading. Labellum 3-lobed, side lobes curved around column, midlobe notched at tip, keeled.

Costa Rica, Panama and Colombia.

T. fragrans (Lindl.) Rchb. f. from the West Indies and S America is a medium sized epiphyte with elongate pseudobulbs and inflorescences of 2-5 predominantly white or greenish flowers that are up to 12 cm wide.
