Restrepiella Garay & Dunst.

Diminutive of Restrepia, a closely related genus.

Epiphytic or epilithic herbs, sympodial, with short rhizomes. Strems not thickened into pseudobulbs, tufted, slender, erect, sheathed. Leaves apical, solitary, leathery, stalked or not. Inflorescences terminal fascicles, usually shorter than the leaves. Flowers resupinate, 1-many, small, velvety, variously coloured. Sepals dissimilar, dorsals free, laterals free or fused at base. Petals smaller than sepals, keeled. Labellum small, entire or 3-lobed, curved, callus keeled. Column short, stout, erect or arching, with a short foot. Pollinia 4, waxy.

About 7 species from Mexico, C and S America.

Flowers velvety; lateral sepals free or fused only at base; small tufted plants lacking pseudobulbs.
