Pleione maculata (Lindl.) Lindl.

Compact epilith. Pseudobulbs cylindrical to conical, to 3 cm long, warty, green to purplish. Leaves 2, elliptic to oblanceolate, to 25 cm long, to 3.5 cm wide. Flowers 1 or sometimes 2, to 6 cm wide; winter. Sepals and petals similar, lanceolate, usually cream or white. Labellum obscurely 3-lobed, white with yellow, red or brown markings.

N India, Burma,Thailand and China.

P. praecox (Sm.) D. Don from India, Burma, Thailand and China is a compact epiphyte or epilith with 2-leaved pseudobulbs and large, mostly solitary, pink to purplish flowers.
