Pleione formosana Hayata

Compact terrestrial, epiphyte or epilith. Pseudobulbs globular to ovoid, to 3 cm long, green to purplish. Leaves 1, elliptic to oblanceolate, to 25 cm long, to 5 cm wide. Flowers 1 or sometimes 2, to 6 cm wide; spring. Sepals and petals similar, oblanceolate, white to pink. Labellum obscurely 3-lobed, white with yellow, red or brown markings. Syn. P. pricei Rolfe.

China and Taiwan.

P. bulbocodioides (Franch.) Rolfe from China is a compact epiphyte or epilith with 1-leaved pseudobulbs and large, solitary, pink to purplish flowers.
