Angraecum sesquipedale Thouars

Christmas Star Orchid

Robust epiphyte. Stem to 1.2 m long. Leaves strap shaped, to 40 cm long, to 7 cm wide, channelled, keeled below, tip notched. Inflorescences to 30 cm long. Flowers 1-4, to 22 cm wide, white; winter. Sepals and petals similar, ovate, pointed, petals slightly shorter and wider. Labellum more or less oblong, obscurely 3-lobed, tip pointed. Spur 25-35 cm long, hanging, slender.
