Weigela floribunda (Siebold & Zucc.) K.Koch

Shrubs 2-3 m tall. Branchlets hairy, especially at first, or with longitudinal lines of hair. Leaves ovate to elliptic, to about 10 cm long, 5 cm wide, long-pointed, saw-toothed, hairy below, especially on the veins. Flowers 1-3 together, hardly stalked, in various shades of carmine; spring to summer. Sepals about 1.5 cm long, more or less linear, cut to the base. Corolla to about 3.5 cm long, narrowed at the base. Fruit capsules cylindrical, to about 2.5 cm long, containing winged seeds.
