Deciduous tree. Leaves pinnate, mostly 20-40 cm long. Leaflets 8-20, without a terminal leaflet on mature leaves, often sickle-shaped, the margins entire, lower surface with domatia present as small hair tufts. Flower clusters 20-40 cm long. Fruit capsule 1-2 cm long, containing seeds that are winged at each end. [T. australis (F. Muell.) Harms.]

Occasionally grown in warmer regions. A coastal tree extensively felled for its prized timber in the early days of settlement, thus reducing its natural range of distribution.
