Leaves broadly ovate, bronzish, turning more purple in autumn. Flowers single or double, the lobes curved slightly inwards.
A hybrid, S. oblata × S. vulgaris, first produced by Lemoine but later repeated by breeders in the USA and Canada.
Cultivars of this derivation generally flower later than those of S. vulgaris.
