Watermint

Variably hairy perennial herb to over 0.5 m tall, often suffused reddish purple. Leaves to 6 cm long, 4 cm wide, more or less ovate, stalked, margins saw-toothed. Flower cluster a terminal head of 2-3 whorls, sometimes with a few more below. Flowers with calyx hairy and tubular, the veins pronounced, stalks hairy. Corolla lilac.

Eurasia

Hybridises freely; a parent of several popular hybrids.
