Lemon Balm

Erect, tufted perennial herb to 1m tall with glandular-hairy stems, woody at the base. Leaves ovate, 2-6 cm long, 2-4 cm wide, round-toothed, with sunken veins, strongly lemon-scented; stalk 1-4 cm long. Flower clusters with mostly 6-10 flowers per whorl. Flowers about 1 cm long, pale yellow to pinkish blue; late summer.

S Europe

Naturalised in moist places of South Australia and in eastern Australia south of the Orange district to Tasmania.
