Silver Maple

Tree 15-20 m tall. Leaves 8-15 cm wide, with 5 deep lobes that have widely separated teeth towards the tip, silvery below. Central 3 lobes each further divided into 3. Colouring yellow in autumn. Leaf stalks long. Flowers yellow, appearing well before the leaves. Fruit 3-5 cm long with widely spread wings.

Upright Silver Maple. Growth habit columnar. Leaves possibly more deeply cut than the species and more pointed, with the margins often turned upwards. Listed for Spaeth Nsy, Germany, in the late 19th century. Syn. 'Fastigiatum'.
