Acer pentaphyllum Diels

Five-leaved Maple

Wide-spreading tree to 10 m tall with grey bark. Leaves palmate, divided to the base and usually with 5 entire or occasionally serrate leaflets (rarely 4-7), narrow, willowy, 5-7 cm long,1.5 cm wide, bluish below. Leaf stalk 4-7 cm long. Fruit wings widely spread, to 2 cm long.

Produces seed prolifically in Vic and this is used for propagation.

Will cross with A. oblongum (Don Teese, pers. comm. 1994).

Leaves palmate with mostly 5 narrow, more or less linear leaflets, waxy-blue below, joined at the base of their red stalks.

 VIC: Mt Macedon ('Curramundi').
