Tree to 20 m or more tall in the wild but smaller in cultivation. New growth pink, finely hairy. Leaves 8-20 cm long. Leaflets 4-8, elliptic to obovate, 5-10 cm long, 2-6 cm wide; margins entire, lower surface with domatia. Flower clusters 5-15 cm long; spring to summer. Flowers with petals to about 2.5 mm long. Fruit capsule 1-3-lobed, yellow to brown.
