Ceanothus papillosus Torr. & A.Gray

Wart Leaf Ceanothus

Evergreen shrub 2-3 m tall with downy new growth. Leaves to about 5 cm long, about 1 cm wide, elliptic to linear, upper surface glossy and warty, lower surface felted, margins inrolled. Flower clusters terminal and axillary, deep blue; spring.

Blue Pacific is a name chosen by the nursery industry association in 1974 as a special promotion for this species which has prolific deep blue flower clusters.

var. roweanus McMinn is a compact dwarf evergreen shrub with leaves to about 4 cm long and about 0.5 cm wide.
