Small evergreen tree or shrub to 9 m tall with densely hairy new growth. Leaves alternate, ovate-elliptic, 5-9 cm long, 4-6 cm wide, cordate, long-pointed, the edges round-toothed, grey-hairy below, glossy above with 3 veins from the base. Flower clusters axillary, pale blue, to about 10 cm long; spring to summer.
