Sauropus albiflorus (Müll.Arg.) Airy Shaw

Shrub to 1m high. Leaves clustered 2-8 on short branches (up to 5 mm long); blade elliptic, obovate or more or less orbicular, 2-12 mm long, 2-8 mm wide; tip obtuse, rounded or abruptly narrowed; base narrowed to wedge-shaped; strongly discolorous; flowers with white perianth parts; fruit waxy pale green.

S. macranthus Hassk. from Qld and Malesia is a shrub to 3 m high. Leaves widely spaced on long branches (150-500 mm long); blade elliptic to lanceolate-ovate, 20-110 mm long, 15-45 mm wide; tip acute to long-pointed; base wedge-shaped to rounded; strongly discolorous; flowers with red perianth parts; fruit red. The foliage is considered edible and has a delicate aniseed taste.
