Wide-spreading shrub or small tree to about 5 m tall. Bark peeling, a distinctive and attractive cinnamon colour. New growth with reddish hair. Leaves elliptic, about 1.5-2.5 cm long, pointed, dark green. Flowers white, about 2 cm wide, sepals and petals 4, stamens in a ring. Fruit a black, edible berry about 1 cm wide. Syn. Myrtus luma Mol.

Myrtle-like leaves; cinnamon-coloured scaly bark.
