Shrub to 2 m tall, waxy at first. Prickles scattered, narrow, straight, yellow, wide. Leaflets 5-9, elliptic to obovate, waxy and hairless above, slightly downy below, teeth mostly simple. Flowers mostly solitary, slightly fragrant, pink (sometimes white at the base) to pale lilac; summer. Fruit about 2 cm wide, round to long-necked, smooth or bristly.
