Japanese Rose

Shrub to 5 m tall with arching or scrambling stems. Prickles numerous, small, bent downwards. Leaflets mostly 7-9, obovate to elliptic, hairless above, sometimes hairy below, teeth simple. Flowers in branched clusters, single, to 3 cm wide, creamy white to pink, fragrant; summer. Styles united, protruding. Fruit ovoid to round, red.
