Rosa chinensis Jacq.

China Rose

Small or climbing shrub. Prickles few, flat and scattered or absent. Leaves evergreen. Leaflets 3-5, to 6 cm long, ovate to lanceolate, glossy above, hairy on midrib below, teeth simple, stipules narrow. Flowers solitary or in clusters, single or semi-double, to 5 cm wide, pink to deep red, fragrant; summer to autumn. Styles free, protruding slightly. Fruit to 2 cm wide, more or less egg-shaped, brown to red.
