Yoshino Cherry

Deciduous tree to 15 m tall. Leaves ovate to obovate, to 13 cm long,margins toothed. Flowers single, white, tinged with pale purple-pink, 4 cm wide, in corymbs of 5-6 with stalks to 3 cm long, calyx tubular. Fruit dark red to black, globose, 0.8 cm wide.

Origin uncertain, but possibly a hybrid between P. subhirtella and P. serrulata or P. speciosa.

 ACT: Canberra (Lake Burley Griffin shore, near Captain Cook Memorial Fountain).
