Prunus salicina Lindl.

Japanese Plum

Deciduous tree to 10 m tall. Leaves obovate, round-toothed or scalloped, to 10 cm long. Flowers white, 1-3 together, 2 cm wide, on stalks to 1.5 cm long. Fruit to 7 cm wide, yellow to red.

There are many commercially grown cultivars derived from P. salicina with over 40 available in Australia. Popular home garden cultivars include P. 'Satsuma', P. 'Mariposa' and P. 'Narrabeen'.
