Evergreen shrub to about 5 m tall with new growth a pronounced pinkish red or bronze. Leaves 5-7 cm long, 2-4 cm wide, elliptic to obovate, tapering at the base, margin toothed. Leaf stalks 1-1.5 cm long. Flower clusters 5-10 cm wide. Flowers white or white suffused with pink, hairy on the inside; summer. Fruits spherical, about 5 mm wide, maturing from red to black.
