Lindera obtusiloba Blume

Decidous shrub to 5 m or more tall. Branchlets pale yellowish to purplish grey with lenticels. Buds pink. Leaves mostly 7-12 cm long, 5-10 cm wide, ovate with 3 lobes near the apex, the base with 3 veins. Flowers yellow in clusters 1-1.5 cm wide, appearing before the leaves and on short stalks less than 5 mm long; spring. Fruits, 1 cm wide, round, shiny, black.
