Mammillaria spinosissima Lem.

Solitary, body elongate, 6-7 cm wide and to 20 cm high without milky sap. Tubercles prominent, conical. Axils white woolly and bristly. Central spines 7-15, 20 mm long, whitish or yellowish, occasionally one with tip hooked. Radial spines 18-25, to 10 mm long, yellowish or brownish. Flowers purplish pink, 15 mm long and wide. Fruit purplish.
