Mammillaria sempervivi D C.

Solitary or eventually clustering, body globular, to 8 cm wide, root turnip-like, with milky sap. Tubercles prominent, pyramidal. Axils white woolly. Central spines 2-4, to 4 mm long, brown or black. Radial spines 0-6, to 3 mm long, white, fine. Flowers whitish with pink central stripe, 1 cm long and wide. Fruit red.
