Mammillaria rhodantha Link & Otto

Solitary, body globular or elongate, wide to 12 cm and 40 cm high, without milky sap. Axils woolly and bristly. Central spines 4-12, to 25 mm long, yellow to reddish-brown. Radial spines 17-24, to 4-9 mm long, white to pale yellow. Flowers purplish-pink, to 2 cm long and 1.5 cm wide. Fruit pinkish-purple.
