Clustering, body elongate to 5 cm wide, 30-200 cm long. Tubercles prominent. Axils woolly and sometimes bristly. Central spine solitary, to 2 cm, hooked. Radial spines 8, 10 mm long, white, tips brown. Flower scarlet, to 3 cm long. Fruit red.
