Mammillaria melanocentra Poselg.

Solitary, body depressed globular, to 12 cm wide, with milky sap. Tubercles prominent, pyramidal. Axils woolly. Central spine solitary, to 3 cm, black fad­ing to brownish grey. Radial spines 6-9, unequal, the lower 6-22 mm exceeding the others, black. Flowers deep pink, 2 cm long and wide. Fruit pinkish.
