Clustering and mounding by offsets or dichotomous branching, body depressed globular, to 5 cm wide and 2 cm high, without milky sap. Tubercles obscure, conical. Axils woolly and bearing occasional bristles. Central spines lacking. Radial spines 30-40, 3-7 mm long, whitish or yellowish. Flowers whitish, 2 cm long, 1.5 cm wide with red or purple central stripe. Fruit red.
