Solitary, eventually clustering, body globular, to 4 cm wide. Tubercles obscure. Axils bare. Central spines lacking. Radial spines 40-80 in several layers, 3-5 mm long, whitish. Flowers white with red central stripe, 1.2 cm long. Fruit red.
