Rhizome thick, spreading or erect. Fronds divided twice or primary segments deeply lobed; scales brown. Blade broadly lanceolate in outline with a long-pointed tip, yellow-green, with a dark area at the junction of the branches with the midrib. Can grow in cool areas.
Recognition: Stalk and main axis with a dense covering of scales but blade with few; cf. D. wallichiana which is similar but has much darker scales.
'Cristata the King' Frond with fine segments, the tip of the fronds and each of the main branches crested. Origin unknown.
