Crested Shield Fern

Rhizome thin, creeping, with few branches. Sterile and fertile fronds different. Fronds to 60 cm long, the fertile ones longer, more erect and narrower, divided 1-2 times, often broad-based. Can grow in cool areas.

Recognition: Sterile and fertile fronds different; fronds more or less linear or oblong in outline.

N America and C Europe to Siberia.
