Rotheca myricoides

Evergreen shrub to 3 m or more tall. Leaves opposite or whorled to about 7 cm long and 4 cm wide, softly hairy on both surfaces, tip pointed, base tapering to leaf stalk, margin with large saw teeth, unpleasant-smelling when crushed. Flower clusters axillary or terminal in few-flowered heads; spring. Flowers with 5 corolla lobes, 1 often darker than the other 4. Fruit reddish to black.
