Frond divided once. Blade to 1 m or so long, linear-lanceolate in outline. Segments bristly and with a distinct 'ear' on the upper margin at the base. Stalk to 40 cm or so long covered with golden to brown scales. Indusia with long hairs. Can grow in cool areas.
Recognition: Brownish persistent scales more than 1 mm wide on the stalk.
