Caucaea olivacea (Kunth) N.H.Williams & M.W.Chase

Medium sized epiphyte. Pseudobulbs ovoid to oblong, to 5 cm long, slightly compressed. Leaves 1 or 2, strap-like, to 20 cm long, to 3.5 cm wide. Flowers few to many, to 3.5 cm wide, mostly brown or olive-green, labellum white to pink with purplish spots. Sepals unequal, dorsal oblong, free, laterals fused for most of their length. Petals similar to dorsal sepal. Labellum 3-lobed, midlobe almost round, callus orange-yellow.

Colombia and Ecuador.

O. flexuosum Sims from S America is a medium sized epiphyte with long panicles of many small yellow and brown flowers, each with the lateral sepals fused at the base.

O. onustum Lindl. from C and S America is a small epiphyte with racemes or panicles of many small golden-yellow flowers, each with the petals about twice as large as the sepals.

O. varicosum Lindl. from Brazil is a medium sized epiphyte with long panicles of many medium sized yellow and brown flowers, each with the lateral sepals fused for about half their length.
