Small shrub in cultivation, growing to a medium-sized tree in the wild. Buds mostly 1-2 mm long. Leaves 5-9 cm long, well spaced, two-ranked, generally bending over and sickle-shaped, with a strong point.
Grows naturally in montane woodland of China.
Occasionally available in nurseries.
