Pleioblastus viridistriatus (André) Mak.

Lowish bamboo with spreading rhizomes. Stems slender, 1 m or more tall, slightly waxy beneath the nodes which have 1-2 branches at the base. Leaves to 16 cm or so long, 2-3 cm wide, abruptly tapered at the base. Sheaths purplish, densely downy, the down being lost with age. Flowers fairly frequently. [Arundinaria auricoma Mitford]
