Prairie Grass

Tufted, short-lived, coarse textured biennial or perennial tufted grass leaf rolled in bud, may appear to be folded. Leaf blade pale green, flat, 6-14 mm wide. Inflorescence an open, often drooping panicle. Spikelets drooping, wedge-shaped, flattened, on long stalks, 4-10 flowered, glumes unequal. [B.unioloides (Willd.) Kunth.]

Indigenous to Europe

Common weed in cultivation, roadsides and parkland. Not recommended for turf grass purposes.
