Common Bamboo

A large clump-forming bamboo to 20 m or so tall sometimes with culms to 12 cm or so wide and arching over with age. Leaf blades to about 25 cm long and 2.5 cm wide, the margins and lower surface rough.

Southern China

Naturalised on the north coast of New South Wales (as is the giant B. balcooa Roxb.) and also in Queensland. Widely used in the tropics for construction materials and the edible new shoots.
