Meadow Fox-tail

Rhizomatous perennial to 1 m tall. Leaves to about 40 cm long and 1.5 cm wide. Ligule membranous, to about 2 mm long and often "“eared". Inflorescence 2-9 cm long and to 1 cm wide. Spikelets (excluding the awns) 4-6 mm long; margin of lemma united for about 1 mm at the base.

Europe

A troublesome weed in pastures in some of the higher rainfall areas of south-eastern Australia, in particular in western Victoria.

A. myosuroides Huds., Slender Foxtail, is a minor weed, as are several other species.
